“I served in the United States Marine Corps from July 1996 to June 2008. I served as a Data Systems Specialist and Data Systems Chief in places like Great Lakes Naval Base, Quantico, VA, 29 Palms, CA and Marietta, GA. I left Active service as an E-5/Sgt from Marine Aircraft Group 42 in Marietta, GA. I have been with Asbury Automotive Group since 2011 and have greatly enjoyed the camaraderie that Asbury employees have, much like my days in the Marine Corps. Asbury provides a great career path for employees to learn and excel in their areas of expertise. I have been able to take the things the Marine Corps taught me in the IT world and apply them to our operations and improve the services we provide daily to our dealerships and associates.”
~ Carl Vannest, Director of IT
“The experience I gained while in the military instilled the importance of team work and communication and has provided me with the ability and desire to work closely with all employees and provide the best services available. I served in the Unites States Air Force as an administrative specialist for three years. I attended technical school at Amarillo AFB, Amarillo, Texas and from there I was transferred to the Armament and Electronics Maintenance Squadron at Barksdale AFB, Bossier City, Louisiana. I worked in the Orderly Room with the Squadron Commander and later was transferred in to Production Control. Meeting these responsibilities included the application, management and control of programs, policies, methods and procedures concerning publications, office systems, training and the ability to work as a team with fellow airmen. I left the military as an E-4/Airman First Class. My career with Asbury as a Human Resources Assistant began on June 23, 2003 and has been an ongoing learning process.”
~ Rebecca Maldonado, HR Assistant, Arkansas Platform
“I served in the United States Marine Corps for six years. At the time I didn’t realize that they instilled in me what is one of the most sought after skillsets in my industry – work ethic. I view this skillset as a job requirement for any position in my department, as well in the entire company. I started out as a sales associate in our Coggin Chevrolet store nine years ago, my success can be traced back to the ethics and values that Marines live by. If you are considering Asbury or one of our subsidiaries for a career, know that you already possess the fundamentals for success here. Semper Fi.”
